Over three days in Apil 2012, the city of Liverpool experienced an amazing giant outdoor puppet show. French street theatre company Royal de Luxe performed Sea Odyssey featuring a number of enormous marionettes up to 50-feet tall.
There were marionettes in water, boats, on cranes, walking down public streets and even sitting in over-sized deck chairs. Unlike in a closed theatre building, in this instance the manipulators of the marionettes were not only plentiful in number, but also in full view of the outdoor audience.
Any drama teacher or student interested in puppetry simply cannot ignore this amazing event as an example of what can only be described as spectacular!
