Just published is the official Revised Draft of The Arts in the Australian Curriculum for Years F-10 (Foundation to Year 10). Last year the first draft of The Arts (including Drama) was published and commented upon by members of the education community with suggestions for further improvement.
The revised draft is not a formal consultation document, but is work in progress as part of the Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority’s (ACARA) validation process. During this time, ACARA will hold workshops with teachers and curriculum experts from across Australia who will critique the revised draft.
All being well, the ACARA Board will aprove the final curriculum document for The Arts in late March, with state and territory Ministers of Education approving it in May. The Arts curriculum should be published on the ACARA website by mid-2013.
The Arts (F-10) in the new Australian Curriculum is due for implementation at the start of 2014.
