Blanchett, Martin Win Oscars

Australians Cate Blanchett and Catherine Martin have today won Oscars at the 86th Academy Awards held in Los Angeles.

Blanchett won the Actress in a Leading Role Oscar for her performance in Woody Allen’s film Blue Jasmine. Blanchett has previously won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar in 2005 for her work in The Aviator.

Catherine Martin, wife of Australian film director Baz Luhrmann, was today awarded two Oscars. Martin won the Best Costume award for The Great Gatsby and a second Oscar for Production Design on the same film. Martin has been awarded two previous Oscars for her costume designs in Moulin Rouge. Well done Aussies!
